’16 years, 9 months & 5 days’: Delhi Police scores with viral T20 World Cup post – MASHAHER

The party’s on in India, and even the Delhi Police are joining in the celebrations. After a thrilling T20 World Cup victory, they took to X with a winning combo: congratulating the Indian Cricket Team and reminding everyone to be patient on the roads.

Delhi Police isn’t new to the social media game. They’re known for their creative road safety campaigns, and this time, they cleverly used the cricket fever to drive home their point.

“We all waited 16 years 9 months 5 days (52,70,40,000 seconds) for India to win another #T20WorldCup Let’s be a little patient at traffic signals too. Good moments are worth the wait. What say? Hearty congratulations, #TeamIndia,” the Delhi Police tweeted.

This wasn’t just any win for India. It ended an agonising 11-year wait for a global title. The team, led by the ever-reliable Rohit Sharma, outplayed South Africa in a nail-biting final.

Streets erupted as the match ended, with fans celebrating well past midnight. From Mumbai to Bengaluru, the country danced and cheered, united by their love for the game.

The victory was a team effort, with Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and the masterful Jasprit Bumrah delivering some game-changing moments in the final overs.

Captain Rohit Sharma, clearly emotional, spoke about the long wait: “I’m proud of the boys…They have been waiting a long time, just like us.”

After the match, both Sharma and Kohli announced their retirement from T20 internationals. Kohli, who played an epic 59-ball 76, said, “This is my last T20 game playing for India… I wanted to make the most of it… It’s time for the next generation to take over.”
