When asked if he would sing for the actor, Bhattacharya responded positively but with a caveat. “Kyun nahi gaenge? The anecdote behind Judwaa

Abhijeet shared an interesting anecdote about his experience with the film Judwaa. The singer recorded the song ‘Tan Tana Tan Tan Tara’ under the impression that he was singing for Govinda, as he was unaware Salman Khan was the lead. “David Dhawan hasn’t worked with any other actor apart from Govinda ever since he became a successful filmmaker. Moreover, no one ever told me who was leading the movie,” he explained. This led to some confusion during the recording process, where even the recordist questioned his singing style: “Aap kyun Govinda bane hue ho?”

The unseen face in Judwaa

Reflecting on the recording of ‘Tan Tana Tan Tan Tara,’ Bhattacharya revealed that the song’s focus was more on the dance and choreography rather than showcasing Salman’s expressions and acting. He noted, “Mujhe pata hi nahi tha Salman hai picture mein. Is song pe lekin pata nahi pada kyun ki face ki jagah pura dance pe aur choreography pe le gaye. Jis tarah se gaaya gaya wo expressions aur acting nahi dikhaye gaye (I didn’t know that Salman was in the movie. But no one knew in this song because it was focussed on the dance rather than on his face. The way it was sung, the expressions and acting weren’t shown).”

The legacy of Judwaa

Judwaa, released in 1997, became a box-office success and is remembered for its entertaining storyline and memorable music. The film starred Salman Khan alongside Karishma Kapoor, Rambha, and notable supporting actors like Kader Khan and Anupam Kher. Bhattacharya’s contribution to the film’s music remains significant, even if he was unaware of the lead actor during the recording process.

Bhattacharya’s thoughts on the music industry

Abhijeet Bhattacharya has had a distinguished career, lending his voice to many iconic Bollywood songs. His insights into the industry reflect his deep understanding and experience. Despite the controversies, he continues to be a respected figure in Indian music, balancing his artistic integrity with candid opinions. His condition for singing for Salman Khan underscores his stance on the involvement of Pakistani artists in Bollywood projects, a topic that remains sensitive and debated.
