The upcoming film, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, has created a buzz since its trailer dropped. The movie promises a story about a love story that endures the test of time but with a twist. Director Neeraj Pandey takes a different path with this romantic drama. The film explores the complexities of the relationship between Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s characters, who are forced to part ways due to their own choices. The love story spans over 22 years.
Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha: Neeraj Pandey reveals why he didn’t de-age Ajay Devgn and Tabu as 21-year-olds: “That would look ridiculous”
In a recent interview with News18, Pandey addressed a crucial aspect of the film – the portrayal of the characters’ younger versions. He revealed a conscious decision to avoid de-ageing technology for Ajay Devgn and Tabu. “We’ve done that only when it was the need of the story,” Pandey said. “Unfortunately, de-aging is being overdone now bordering on the abuse of technology. For this particular story, you can’t age Ajay and Tabu’s characters into 21-year-olds. That would look ridiculous!”
Pandey emphasized the importance of authenticity in his storytelling. De-aging, while offering a seemingly convenient solution, wouldn’t have served the narrative in this case. Instead, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha employs two sets of actors to portray the different age groups of the lead characters. Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee Manjrekar step in to depict the younger versions of Ajay Devgn and Tabu, respectively.
“We were very clear from day one that there would be two different sets of actors to portray two age groups because that fits the story and that, I think, is the beauty of it. People change after 24. Our physical appearance changes,” Pandey explained.
Beyond the central couple, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha boasts a supporting cast that adds depth and intrigue to the narrative. Jimmy Shergill joins the ensemble. The veteran actor Sayaji Shinde rounds out the cast, promising a captivating performance.
Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is produced by a collaboration between NH Studioz, known for backing Neeraj Pandey’s previous ventures, and Friday Filmworks. Narendra Hirawat, Kumar Mangat Pathak (Panorama Studios), Sangeeta Ahir, and Shital Bhatia join forces to bring this poignant story to life.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the film will not release this week. The makers are planning a release date towards the end of July 2024 instead.
