Fourth of July could be wet with threat of severe storms and torrential rain – MASHAHER


There could more than just fireworks exploding across the sky this Fourth of July in northern Ohio.

The National Weather Service says the holiday week is shaping up to be a stormy one.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible in Greater Akron on Wednesday afternoon and evening with damaging winds possible along with localized flooding.

The wet weather is expected to continue into the Fourth with another threat of isolated severe thunderstorms along with more heavy rain and a risk of flooding.

The threat of a shower and even some thunderstorms extends into Saturday.

What’s the Fourth of July forecast?

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 76. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 54. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 85. South wind 7 to 10 mph.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southeast wind 6 to 8 mph.

Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 92. South wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8 pm and 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Independence Day: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86.
