Journalist reveals real reason search has ended for missing teen – MASHAHER

A journalist has revealed what they believe is the real reason that the hunt for missing teen Jay Slater has ended.

Tenerife Police called off their search yesterday after the teenage boy had been missing for two weeks.

Slater went missing after attending a music festival on the Spanish island.

After the music event the teenager travelled to an Airbnb in Masca with people he met on Sunday, June 16.

The apprentice bricklayer spoke to his friend Lucy Law at 8am local time on Monday, June 17, to say he had missed his bus, his phone had just one per cent battery and he would walk home instead.

Despite police meticulously searching the area, the teenager was not found.

Speaking to GB News, journalist Gerard Couzens explained: “I think the reason that they’ve called it off is simply due to the information they’ve got available, in terms of his last known phone location.

“They’ve searched and researched as best they can and looked in all the areas that he could be.

“Obviously, if he’s carried on walking and done unexpected things once his phone’s off or he has switched to a completely different area of Tenerife, they’ve not got that information to go.

“They cannot just blindly change municipalities and start searching in another area without something to go on. I wouldn’t deduct from this that they think he’s in that area but dead because I think they’d carry on searching if they if that was the case.”

He added: “It was a surprise [when they called off the search.] They brought in the dog reinforcements from Madrid on Tuesday or Wednesday of last week.

“I suppose I had a sense when they suddenly announced that large-scale operation for Saturday, which turned out not to be so large after all, that it could be a final push.

“I wasn’t expecting the police to say the following morning. We’re calling it off, but that’s what they did, so yes, it did come as a surprise.”

The family source from the UK told The Sun: “Jay’s family can’t help thinking the trolls have won and that they have got the way. So many people have been putting horrible messages out there which has only added to the family’s torment.

“They will not stop looking for Jay or giving up. They will be staying in Tenerife and trying to do all they can to keep the momentum going and to find Jay.

“They’ve been trying to get in touch with groups in Tenerife and beyond who specialise in missing persons.

“Jay’s family knew the search would eventually wind down. They get that. But it was a nightmare scenario they didn’t want to think about.”
