SHAH ALAM: Three drug rings were busted following the seizure of almost RM2mil worth of drugs.

Four people were also detained in the raids conducted around Selangor from June 27 till July 1.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan (pic) said in this first case, a married couple was detained following a raid in Puchong on June 27.

“Some 57kg of syabu stored in seven plastic sacks were seized. The drugs were initially hidden underneath the soil to evade detection.

“The drugs were meant for the Klang Valley market,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters on Tuesday (July 2).

In the second case, Comm Hussein said that a 48-year-old was detained at a parking lot in Jalan Sulaiman, Ampang at 4.45pm on June 29.

“We seized a bag filled with 4.4kg of heroin after inspecting the suspect’s car.

“The suspect tested negative for drugs but he had three priors on his criminal record,” he said.

Meanwhile in the third case, Comm Hussein said police seized 26.2kg of ganja and detained a 34-year-old man at the Sungai Buloh rest stop at about 4.30am on Monday (July 1).

“The drugs were stored in the bonnet of the suspect’s car.

“The suspect, who works as a cook, tested positive for THC,” he said.

Comm Hussein said overall, a total of 57.6kg of syabu, 4.4kg of heroin and 26.2kg of ganja worth RM1.97mil were seized from the three operations.

“The drugs seized could have been supplied to 150,515 users.

“All of the suspects detained have been remanded for further investigations,” he said.

He also urged the public to supply the police with information on drug-related activities.

“We need the public’s cooperation to combat the drug menace successfully,” he said.
