SHAH ALAM: Two men were detained in connection with the break-in and robbery at the home of Selangor centreback Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee, says Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
The Selangor police chief said the two suspects were nabbed near Kampung Alur Tuman in Marang, Terengganu on June 26.
“They were nabbed after both of them met with an accident.
“We believe these two were responsible for the theft at the footballer’s home,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters on Tuesday (July 2).
The police also seized several items worth more than RM50,000 from the suspects, he said.
“Among the items seized were 17 bags, seven mobile phones, a camera, four pairs of gloves, 17 watches, five rings, a car and a motorcycle.
“Both men also tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said.
The suspects have been remanded until July 3, Comm Hussein said.
“We believe they were responsible for nine house break-ins and thefts including the one at the footballer’s home.
“They have two cases each in Selangor, Melaka and Pahang as well as three cases in Terengganu,” he said.
While the case involving the footballer has been solved, Comm Hussein said the police are in the midst of completing the investigation paper and will refer it to the Deputy Public Prosecutor soon.
On May 22, the 31-year-old footballer had lodged a police report that his house in Shah Alam was broken into at about 11.30pm.
Initial investigations showed that the suspect is believed to have used a white MPV to go to the house before stealing the victim’s motorcycle.
Other items stolen were passports and designer bags.
Police said that the suspects monitored other houses prior to breaking into the footballer’s home.
CCTV footage showed that two men were involved in the burglary, he said.
