CLEVELAND (WJW) — The Fox 8 I-Team has uncovered more about the suspect arrested for the murder of a Cleveland Police officer on duty Thursday morning.
A charge of aggravated murder has been filed against 24-year-old Delawnte Hardy. He has now been booked into the Cuyahoga County Jail.

The complaint simply says, “at 1510 E. 80th PL Cleveland, OH, Delawnte Hardy did shoot and kill” the officer.
The shooting happened early Thursday morning. At a brief news conference, the Cleveland Police Chief didn’t get into many specifics of the incident, but she said the suspect had been wanted for felony assault, and he fired multiple shots.
The name of the officer who was shot is not being released at this time. Fox 8 News does know the late officer was 27 years old and was a four-year veteran of the police force.

Hardy is due to appear in Cleveland Municipal Court on Friday morning.
