A Winter Haven man died in a single-car crash near Lake Howard early Monday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene about 12:10 a.m. Monday near Lake Howard.
A 30-year-old man, whose name was not provided, was driving a Ford F150 truck northbound on South Lake Howard Drive. Near Bates Avenue Southwest, the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road, left the pavement and struck a utility pole, then overturned.

The man was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash, according to state troopers.
South Lake Howard Drive was closed for a few hours as state troopers conducted an investigation at the scene of the crash.
