Heavy rain battered parts of Texas on Sunday, July 7, as tropical storm Beryl approached portions of the Texas coast.
Drone footage filmed by Jim Washkau shows the Houston skyline disappearing behind a wall of rain on Sunday early evening.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), strong winds, heavy rain, storm surge, and flooding were expected across southeast Texas through Monday.
“Beryl is expected to turn north and strengthen to a Category 1 Hurricane before making landfall near Eastern Matagorda Bay” between Sunday night and Monday morning, the agency said. “After Beryl moves inland, it will weaken and turn northeastward” late on Monday. Credit: Jim Washkau via Storyful
