Popular southeastern diner opening new location in downtown Spartanburg, what to know – MASHAHER


Southeastern diner and morning brunch favorite Flying Biscuit Café will open a new location in Spartanburg by the fall of 2024.

The upcoming restaurant will be located at 121 W. Main St. in the Morgan Square section of downtown Spartanburg, in the former location of the Tulip Tree restaurant, which closed in 2024.

Open since 1993, the Atlanta-based diner is known for its Southern-style menu, which includes egg-based dishes, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and signature homemade biscuits. Nearly 5,000 biscuits are made at each of its 35-plus locations across the Southeast on a weekly basis.

Spartanburg’s new Flying Biscuit Café location will be the fifth franchise in South Carolina and the second in the Upstate area. It will join the downtown Greenville location at 656 S. Main St., which is owned by Summer Lee.

Overall, the Southern diner franchise has more than 35 locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas.
