Green Bay Packers acquire Mike McCarthy Way property for $1.2 million – MASHAHER


The Green Bay Packers bought 841 Mike McCarthy Way, Ashwaubenon, for $1.2 million.

ASHWAUBENON – The Green Bay Packers added to the land they own near Lambeau Field with the $1.2 million purchase of nearly half an acre on Mike McCarthy Way.

The Packers acquired 841 Mike McCarthy Way on June 20, according to Brown County land records. It is the fourth acquisition of a parcel on the west end of the block bordered by Oneida Street, McCarthy Way, Borvan Avenue and Mike Holmgren Way. The lot is immediately west of Green Bay Distillery. It is the fourth acquisition the Packers have made this year.

The property was purchased by Lambeau Field Redevelopment LLC, one of several entities the Packers use when buying land. The site has a tenant: Team 2 Racing. a motorcycle, snowmobile, and ATV parts and accessories supplier.

Other purchases this year include:

  • 935 Stadium Drive, Ashwaubenon, on Jan. 30, for $600,000. The property was a home.

  • 728 Lombardi Ave., Green Bay, on April 10 for $2.35 million. The property was the former home of Packer Fastener.

  • 2031 S. Oneida St., Ashwaubenon, on April 16 for $2.5 million. The property is a BP gas station and will continue to operate as a gas station for the foreseeable future.

How will the Packers use the land?

“From a long-term perspective, it’s been helpful to have flexibility with land and facilities,” Aaron Popkey, Packers’ director of public affairs, said earlier this year about recent purchases. “Long term, there could be a number of uses, including storage and operational support.”

In the short term, empty parcels around Lambeau could be used for operations during the 2025 NFL draft, scheduled for April 24-26 in Green Bay.

How much land do the Packers own, total?

The Packers own nearly 90 acres in Ashwaubenon and Green Bay, not including Lambeau Field, the Don Hutson Center, and Clarke Hinkle and Ray Nitschke fields, which are owned by the city of Green Bay or Brown County. Since 2006, the Packers paid more than $74 million for land near Lambeau Field.

The Titletown District, immediately west of Lambeau Field, at more than 45 acres, accounts for about half of the land the Packers own.

Where are the other parcels?

The Packers own eight of 11 parcels along the north side of Mike McCarthy Way. They do not own two at the far eastern end of that stretch and one narrow parcel abutting the Don Hutson Center.

The organization also owns or controls much of the land on the south side of Lombardi Avenue from Oneida Street west to I-41, the exception being the area from Marlee Lane west to the Metro Market grocery store, which consists of six parcels owned by five entities. They also own land north of Lombardi that is home to Lyndahl Funeral home.

South of Lambeau Field, the Packers own the land between Barberry and Myrtle lanes and Lambeau Field. They also own land on June Lane and the west end of Stadium Drive.

Which properties cost the most?

The most expensive purchase was $10.7 million in 2007 for the former Kmart property than is now part of Titletown.

The second most-expensive purchase was $8.5 million in 2011 for the property between Argonne Street and I-41 that now is home to Cabela’s outdoor sports store.
