MANITOWOC – Donors are stepping up to support Tina and Jason Prigge — well known for showing their support to the Manitowoc community — who were involved in a motorcycle crash over the holiday weekend.

The couple, who run Coolest Coast, a media effort to promote Two Rivers, Manitowoc and other Wisconsin coastal cities, were hospitalized with serious injuries over the Fourth of July weekend.

Jason and Tina were riding a motorcycle when a car swerved into their lane, resulting in severe injuries to both of them, according to a GoFundMe page set up in their name by Grow It Forward CEO & founder Amber Daugs. The fund can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-tina-and-jason-prigge-recover-from-a-tragic-accident.

Tina is in a hospital Intensive Care Unit fighting for her life and has lost both limbs on her left side, according to the GoFundMe page.

Jason has a shattered leg and faces a long road to recovery, the page said.

The GoFundMe page was set up by Daugs, a family friend. More than $86,000 of a $100,000 had been raised as of Monday morning.

“As many of you know, the costs associated with medical care can quickly become overwhelming,” Daugs wrote. “Both Tina and Jason are self-employed, adding to the financial strain during this incredibly challenging time.

“We are asking for your support to help alleviate some of the financial burden they are facing. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and is greatly appreciated.

“Please join us in supporting Tina and Jason on their long journey to recovery. Your generosity will help cover medical expenses, rehabilitation and other related costs as they navigate this difficult period,” Daugs wrote.

New hotel: Manitowoc’s first new hotel in more than 20 years will be a Hampton Inn by Hilton near I-43. Ground was broken on the project in June.

Jason and Tina are known throughout Manitowoc and Two Rivers for their active participation in making the community better.

Tina serves as president of the Manitowoc International Relations Association and serves on the board of the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra. Jason is president of the Grow It Forward Inc. board, and a member of the NOAA Shipwreck Coast National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council. He is an accomplished artist and designer, and recently worked on a downtown mural to depict local bird species and highlight Two Rivers’ designation as a Wisconsin Bird City.

Road construction: US 10 resurfacing between Two Rivers and Branch starts Monday. Here’s how it will impact traffic.

The couple has won numerous awards for their dedication to the area, including the Joseph P. Schmitt “Speak Up” Award by the Chamber of Manitowoc County and the Economic Accelerator of the Year Award by Progress Lakeshore.

Daugs said on the GoFundMe page that a trust is also being set up for people who prefer to avoid online donations.
