NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – During a demonstration in downtown Nashville by a group called Patriot Front, some of the marchers were seen using U-Haul vehicles for transportation.

When asked about Saturday’s incident, Jeff Lockridge, a spokesperson for U-Haul International, told News 2 the company is inclusive company that serves customers from all walks of life across the U.S. and Canada.

“We don’t ask customers about their personal views, political affiliations, religious beliefs, voting history, income level, educational background, race, gender, sexual preferences, or any other private information that is none of our business,” Lockridge said. “Our business is meeting the basic need of helping people achieve affordable, accessible residential mobility.”

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) and the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) told News 2 they were aware of the presence of the group in the area on Saturday and no criminal activity took place.

According to the ‘Terms and Conditions for Equipment Rental’ section of the U-Haul rental contract, a “customer shall require passengers to ride only in the cab of the truck, pickup truck, and van or vehicle towing any trailer.”

“We do not rent to groups, organizations, etc., so we do not have affiliations or history with groups, organizations, etc.,” Lockridge responded. “We rent to individual customers. Those are the names on our rental contracts. If a customer is shown to be in breach of the rental agreement, we reserve the right to deny rental privileges to that individual going forward.”

Lockridge said from the pictures and videos his team had seen so far, they haven’t been able to identify any license plate numbers or equipment IDs from their vehicles.

“If you have further images or intel to help us identify the equipment, we would appreciate you sharing that with us,” Lockridge said. “When a customer violates the U-Haul rental agreement through the misuse of equipment by committing an illegal act, we monitor and investigate the situation – and offer support to law enforcement as requested – so it is addressed in a prompt and serious manner.”
