Australian boxing legend Jeff Fenech says Curtis Scott should definitely chase a crossover heavyweight blockbuster with Sonny Bill Williams, stressing his hands will cause “trouble” for every heavyweight domestically.

The huge praise comes after Scott admitted to “s***ing myself” only hours before his spectacular KO of AFL great Barry Hall inside the Wollongong Entertainment Centre.

Despite being in only the third fight of his professional career, Scott needed just 86 seconds to finish Hall – who was having his first bout being stopped within a round by Williams two years.

Yet incredibly, the exiled NRL star got the job done 29 seconds quicker.

As first revealed by Fox Sports Australia this week, Scott’s agent Titus Day has already opened discussions with No Limit to secure a fight with Williams, who has fought 10 times professionally.

That move has been backed by Fenech, who approached No Limit promoter Matt Rose on fight day and, having watched Scott in sparring, stressed the fight would go no longer than a round.

“I spoke with Matty Rose today and said, mate, Curtis Scott will win in a round,” Fenech said.

“Matty said ‘no, no’, but I knew it would be a quick finish.

“Because Curtis Scott is a winner.

“He’s is strong, super aggressive and he wants to win.

“Whenever this kid lands, people are in trouble.”

Asked if he supported Scott chasing SBW next, Fenech continued: “Absolutely.

“Can he beat Sonny Bill Williams?

“That’s a tough one to call

“But this kid lands, he lands … so anyone he hits is in trouble”.

Elsewhere, Scott admitted to being more than a little nervous in the hours before his third professional fight thanks to having watched Hall’s 2019 bout against Paul Gallen.

While the bout was declared a draw, many thought Hall had won.

The former Sydney Swans star was also weighing eight kilos heavier than he did for the Williams loss, and a whopping 12kg heavier than Scott – who eventually wants to compete at cruiserweight.

“I watched Barry’s fight against Gal today and I’m not going to lie, I was s***ing myself,” Scot” conceded backstage after his win.

“He boxed really well in that fight.

“And that’s what I was pumping up for, that’s what I was expecting.

“He was probably a little off against Sonny and I thought that would be a massive motivator to get a win over me.

“There was also the big size difference too.

“(Laughs) So he had me bluffed to be honest.

“I thought Barry would come out and put on a massive slugfest … that’s what I was preparing for.”

Instead, it was all over within a round, with the fighter declaring afterwards he could be ready to go as early as August, when Nikita Tszyu headlines the next No Limit Pay-Per-View.

Asked about exactly what punch he thought finished Hall, Scott continued: “A few jabs got through and then the right hand got through … I could feel it through the glove so knew I hurt him.

“The first time he went down I knew he was hurt so I kept the pressure on and put him down (again).”

And as for when he would be ready to fight Williams?

“I’m a junkyard dog,” he said afterwards.

“I’m ready to go.

“I don’t drink I don’t go out.

“I’ve got no outside noise.

“I’ve got nothing else.

“I’m purely focused on getting ready to fight.

“And with Sonny, I think there is definitely stuff in the making.

“I bring revenue, I bring eyes and so does he.

“It would be a massive fight to make.”

Asked what was said between the pair afterwards, given they had traded verbal jabs right throughout fight week, Scott continued: “Just mutual respect.

“I just said we sold the fight well and that I had nothing against him.

“He said ‘sorry, I couldn’t put on more of a fight for you’.

“It is what it is.

“We were in there in the trenches.

“So massive respect.

“A few things were said, a bit of bad blood there.

“But he’s a gentleman.

“He’s got another kid on the way and I wish him all the best with that.”

Speaking this week, both Day and Scott suggested an SBW fight was the next logical step for his career.

While Williams was stopped in his last outing against UFC legend Mark Hunt – the first loss of his career — it’s understood the former duel international is keen to return to the ring later this year and was already in discussions with Australia’s first heavyweight champ Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Brown.

But with Brown retiring earlier this year after being knocked out himself by Hemi Ahio – opening the door for Scott to now score what would be a huge crossover bout.
