Actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor wanted to hire the same wedding filmer who shot Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli and Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh’s lavish weddings in Italy. However, he refused. In a recent interview, Vishal Punjabi of The Wedding Filmer shared why he turned down Alia and Ranbir’s request to cover their wedding ceremony.
In Shivani Pau’s podcast, Punjabi revealed that Alia and Ranbir approached him just a few weeks before their wedding ceremony on April 14, 2022. He said, “I wasn’t available when Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt called me for their wedding. A lot of these celebrities call me two weeks before their wedding because it’s hush-hush and nobody can know.”
“The downside is… I am not available for most of them. I have never cancelled a wedding to cover a celebrity’s wedding. I didn’t film Alia and Ranbir’s wedding because I was already booked to film a wedding in London for a very beautiful, lovely bride. I wouldn’t change that for the world even now. She was gorgeous, and it was a beautiful experience. Ranbir and Alia would have gotten a nice wedding video,” added Punjabi.
Alia and Ranbir got married in an intimate ceremony at their Vastu home in Bandra, Mumbai. The event was attended by family members including Soni Razdan, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Bharat Sahni, Mahesh Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt, and Neetu Kapoor. The wedding also saw the presence of Kareena and Saif Ali Khan, along with Taimur and Jeh, Ayan Mukerji, Karan Johar, Akash and Shloka Ambani, and others.
In an earlier interview, Ranbir’s mother, actor Neetu Kapoor, shared that Alia and Ranbir had been planning a destination wedding for two years before deciding to exchange vows at home.
