A woman has been arrested after her children sought help for her at a Myrtle Beach hotel, according to a Myrtle Beach Police report.

Jennifer Lynn Hutchins, 37, was arrested July 9, 2024, for unlawfully placing a child at risk of, cause harm or willfully abandon the child.

Police responded to the Bermuda Sands Hotel, 104 N. Ocean Blvd., in reference to a child neglect incident. A person told police that Hutchins’ children were attempting to seek help for their “grossly intoxicated and unresponsive parent,” according to an arrest warrant.

Hutchins’ 9-year-old daughter was unable to care for herself without adult supervision, the warrant said.

Hutchins was taken to Grand Strand Medical Hospital for medical attention. When police searched her room, they found seven empty THC gummy packages. The packages contained 80 gummies, which contain 10 to 25 milligrams of THC per dose, the warrant said.

It is unclear from the report how many children were in the hotel room at the time of the incident.
