As more and more companies unveil AI-powered laptops, the competition seems to be intensifying. Microsoft, which has emerged as a frontrunner in the AI race, has now launched its Copilot+ PCs in collaboration with Surface in India. The new Surface and Surface Pro models have been launched for Indian customers and can be pre-ordered starting today (July 11).

Shruti Bhatia, Country Manager, Modern Work & Surface, India & South Asia, talked about the transformative potential of these devices. “Microsoft Surface Copilot+ PCs, now available in India, are power-packed devices made for everyday work and play, providing exclusive AI experiences to empower our customers. We see AI PCs as a transformative opportunity that can disrupt the PC market. With new advanced AI experiences integrated into the devices, it will enable users to do things they can’t on any other PC, helping them be more productive, creative and communicate more effectively,” she said.

Microsoft unveils CoPilot+ PCs in India: Price and availability

Starting today (July 11), the new Surface Laptop and Surface Pro models can be pre-ordered from major retailers like Amazon, Croma, Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales, and select multi-brand stores. The laptops, as per Microsoft, are available at an introductory price of Rs 1,13,900. Moreover, those who pre-order the Surface Pro 11th edition or Laptop 7th edition by August 5, 2024, will receive exclusive promotions, including a complimentary Marshall Major IV Wireless Headset valued at Rs 14,999. Additionally, all pre-orders come with a one-month free subscription to Microsoft 365 and PC Game Pass.

The new Copilot+ PCs offer a range of configurations to cater to various user needs. The Surface Pro 11th Edition starts with the Snapdragon X Plus, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD available in Platinum for Rs 116,999. A higher variant with 512GB SSD is available in both Platinum and Black for Rs 1,34,999.

For those seeking top-tier performance, the Snapdragon X Elite model with 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and an OLED display is available in Platinum and Black for Rs 1,65,999.

An advanced version with 1TB SSD is available in Black for Rs 185,999, while the highest configuration with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD in Platinum is priced at Rs 2,37,999.

The Surface Laptop 7th Edition, with its 13.8-inch screen, starts at Rs 116,999 for the Snapdragon X Plus, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD model available in Platinum. The 512GB SSD version comes in Platinum and Black for Rs 1,34,999.

The Snapdragon X Elite variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD in Black is priced at Rs 1,54,999, while the 1TB SSD model is available in Black for Rs 1,75,999.

The highest configuration with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD in Black is priced at Rs 2,07,999. For those preferring a larger screen, the 15-inch Surface Laptop 7th Edition starts at Rs 1,42,999 with the Snapdragon X Elite, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD in Platinum. The 512GB SSD version in Black is available for Rs 1,63,999, while the 1TB SSD model in Black is priced at Rs 1,83,999.

Microsoft CoPilot+ PCs top specs and features

At the heart of the Copilot+ PCs is a significant advancement in computing power and AI capabilities. Equipped with Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors, these devices promise to offer optimal processing speeds and all-day battery life, thanks to a powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This promises that users can enjoy faster performance and new AI experiences designed to make work and play more efficient.

Microsoft also says that the new Surface devices are designed to be thin, lightweight, and ultraportable. They also come with brighter and more immersive displays. The Surface Pro offers an OLED option with HDR display for a cinematic experience, while the Surface Laptop boasts a new HDR touchscreen display with razor-thin bezels.

One of the standout features is the Copilot key on the Windows 11 keyboards of these PCs. This key provides quick access to the Copilot app, enhancing user productivity with AI-powered tools. Security is also a priority, with every Copilot+ PC featuring Microsoft Pluton Security and Windows Hello Enhanced Sign-in enabled by default, ensuring user data is protected from day one.

The Copilot+ PCs also promise to come equipped with the most powerful NPUs in the PC category, capable of performing over 45 trillion operations per second. This allows for new AI experiences that boost productivity and creativity. Features like Cocreator simplify image creation and photo editing, while Live Captions translate audio into English in real-time, making it easier to connect with friends and colleagues.

The devices also claim to feature new and enhanced audio and video effects. The Surface Pro’s ultra-wide, quad-HD front-facing camera and 10-megapixel Ultra HD rear-facing autofocus camera support 4K video, making it ideal for capturing and editing on the go. The Surface Laptop includes a full HD Surface Studio Camera and AI-powered Windows Studio Effects, providing features like Automatic Framing, Portrait Blur, Creative Filters, and Voice Focus.
