Just a couple of days back, Google had announced the date of its Made By Google event. The much-awaited event will take place on August 13 and we will finally get to see the Pixel 9 series of smartphones. The Google Pixel 9 series is expected to include the vanilla Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. While Google has remained tight-lipped on the Pixel 9 series and hasn’t unveiled anything except for a teaser announcing the event, details about the phone have started doing rounds online.
And now that the official launch is roughly a month back, we can expect more speculations and rumours about the Pixel 9 series in the near future. Now, the price details for these devices in Europe have surfaced, giving us a sneak peek into what consumers can expect.
The standard Pixel 9 is expected to come in four distinct colours: Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white), Cosmo (pinkish hue), and Mojito (light green). The prices for the Pixel 9 are €899 (approximately Rs 80,000) for the 128 GB variant and €999 (approximately Rs 88,700) for the 256 GB variant. This marks a €100 increase from the Pixel 8, which was priced at €799 for the base model.
The Pixel 9 Pro is also expected to be available in four colours: Obsidian, Porcelain, Hazel (sage green), and Pink. The storage options and their expected prices are €1,099 (approximately Rs 97,500) for 128 GB, €1,199 (approximately Rs 1,06,400) for 256 GB, and €1,329 (approximately Rs 1,18,000) for 512 GB. The Pixel 9 Pro is positioned as a premium offering with additional camera features compared to the standard Pixel 9.
For those seeking an even larger device, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is also expected to be available with the same internal specifications as the Pixel 9 Pro but a larger screen.
The pricing details could be €1,199 (approximately Rs 1,06,400) for 128 GB, €1,299 (approximately Rs 1,15,300) for 256 GB, €1,429 (approximately Rs 1,26,900) for 512 GB, and €1,689 (approximately Rs 1,50,000) for the 1 TB model. The 1 TB version is said to be exclusive to Obsidian, while the other models will be available in additional colours.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold, succeeding the original Pixel Fold, is also expected to be unveiled during the event. The phone might be available in Obsidian and Porcelain colour options. The expected pricing for this foldable device is €1,899 (approximately Rs 1,68,900) for the 256 GB model and €2,029 (approximately Rs 1,80,500) for the 512 GB model.
These prices are according to a report in a French publication called Dealabs and might apply to all of Europe. It’s important to note that these prices in euros might vary slightly due to different VAT levels across Europe. Additionally, Indian prices of the devices could turn out to be quite different. However, the European prices do give us an idea of what we can expect from the Pixel 9 series in terms of pricing.
Until now it looks like that the Pixel 8 was more affordable, with its 128 GB model priced €100 less than the Pixel 9. The Pixel 9 Pro’s base model remains similarly priced to the Pixel 8 Pro, but higher storage options see slight increases. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is significantly more expensive, marking at least a €100 jump over its predecessor.
