As for the film itself, Variety film critic Owen Gleiberman praised the film for connecting “with the spirit of ‘Planet of the Apes.’” Gleiberman wrote in his review, “I was more than gratified to sink into its relatively old-fashioned dramatic restraint.”
In addition, the other movies in the franchise — including “Planet of the Apes,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “War for the Planet of the Apes,” and others — are also streamable on Hulu.
Directed by Wes Ball, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is set generations after the death of Caesar (Andy Serkis) and follows a young chimpanzee named Noa (Owen Teague), who goes on a journey to avenge his family after a group of ape zealots rampaged his village. He discovers there’s more to learn about the origins of apes and humans.
