In a recent interview with YouTuber Siddharth Kannan, Junaid Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, made a surprising statement about the family’s acting prowess. Junaid, who recently debuted in the YRF film Maharaj, revealed that he believes Kiran Rao, Aamir’s former wife and a filmmaker, is the “best actor in the family.”

Junaid Recalls His Journey Before Debut
Junaid’s path to his first film role wasn’t without its challenges. He shared that he auditioned for “around 7-8 films” before landing his debut project. While discussing his film Maharaj, Junaid mentioned that Kiran Rao, director of Laapataa Ladies, enjoyed the movie.

The conversation then took a surprising turn when Junaid expressed his belief that Kiran is a superior actor to his father, Aamir Khan, a veteran of over 35 years in the industry. “Actually, Kiran is also probably the best actor in the family,” he stated. When pressed about Aamir’s acting prowess, Junaid remained firm: “No no, Kiran is definitely the best actor in the family.”
Junaid On Auditioning For Laal Singh Chaddha
Junaid further revealed a fascinating detail about his pre-debut experience. He disclosed that Kiran played his mother during his audition for the lead role in Laal Singh Chaddha, a role eventually portrayed by Aamir. “I had actually worked with her on the test for Laal Singh Chaddha,” he shared. “She was playing my mother. I had done a scene with her so I can tell you that she is by far the best actor in the family.”
Junaid jokingly added that while he’s sure Aamir is aware of Kiran’s acting talents, “Whether he is going to admit to himself is not something I have discussed with him.”
Speaking of the professional front, Junaid is currently working on two new films. One features him alongside the talented Sai Pallavi, while the other boasts Khushi Kapoor as his co-star.
