It was a very stable first week for Kill as it opened at Rs. 1.35 crores on Friday and drop till Thursday was minimal with Rs. 1.22 crores coming in. In between, the film did go past the Rs. 2 crores mark on Saturday and Sunday, post which it stayed in that Rs. 1.20-1.35 crores range right through the weekdays.
This was also a bare minimum requirement for the film to not just sustain in the first week but also create enough traction to step in well into the second week. Had the numbers gone below Rs. 1 crore mark during the weekdays then getting those shows in the second week would have been a huge challenge as Kalki 2898 AD is still playing and then new releases Sarfira and Hindustani 2 are big ones as well.
Of course, the showcasing has been impacted even now but then the film doesn’t need those 1000 screens to keep earning moolah. As long as it can score around Rs. 1 crore in each of the days to come with added distance covered on Saturday and Sunday, it would be able to sustain itself. It’s just that audiences have too many choices available and hence it would be the second week that will decide how much farther will the film go beyond Rs. 11.36 crores that it has collected already.
