2 die in possible alcohol-related crash Sunday in Sioux Falls, police say – MASHAHER


Two people are dead, following a crash in the early hours of Sunday near East 34th Streeth North and North Cliff Avenue, according to a press release from the Sioux Falls Police Department.

Emergency crews responded at 12:30 a.m. to the area, and discovered two people with life threatening injuries in the roadway. The adult male and adult female later died on the scene from their injuries.

“The investigation revealed two individual vehicles were stopped on the side of the road attempting to fix a tow strap,” the release states.

A red Ford F150 was towing a red Chevy Impala in the south bound lanes of North Cliff Avenue , and a red Chevrolet Silverado was also south bound at the time, the release states.

“The red Silverado impacted with the two stopped vehicles and the occupants,” the release states. “Alcohol is being investigated as a possible contributing factor in the case and further criminal charges are pending.”

The release did not mention a name of the person involved in the Silverado, nor the names of the two deceased.

More information is expected at the department’s daily police briefing with media at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The investigation is ongoing.
