PORT DICKSON: Police have arrested five after a 38-year-old partially paralysed man was found drowned in the pool of a hotel here.
Port Dickson OCPD Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said the man and his five others, including three women aged 31 to 36, checked in at the hotel on July 11 to celebrate his birthday and were supposed to check out two days later.
“Based on a preliminary investigation, hotel employees found the six swimming at the hotel pool around 2am on July 13 and were told they were not allowed to do so.
“However, they continued doing so and around two hours later, they found him unresponsive,” he said.
Supt Aidi Sham said the victim was then rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
He said a post-mortem examination of the victim’s remains established the cause of death as drowning.
“Urine tests carried out on the five returned positive for drug use.
“Two also had criminal and narcotic-related records,” he said.
Supt Aidi Sham said police had obtained an order to remand the five for seven days till July 21.
The case, he said, is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
