Actor Randeep Hooda recently reminisced about the challenges he faced while directing his debut film, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. A portion of the film required shooting in the remote Andaman & Nicobar Islands, presenting logistical and financial hurdles.

In a candid interview on the podcast hosted by Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Randeep admitted his demanding behavior on set due to the film’s tough production. He elaborated on an unexpected event that significantly inflated the budget: the airline shutdown that disrupted travel plans.
Soaring Costs Due to Airline Shutdown
“Go Air shut down just as we were going for location scouting,” Randeep explained. This sudden closure resulted in a dramatic increase in flight ticket prices to Port Blair, the capital city of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. “One-way fares skyrocketed to a staggering Rs 45,000 or Rs 50,000,” he revealed.

The situation became more complex due to the large cast and crew. “We had a team of around 150-200 people to transport,” Randeep said. The limited flight options further compounded the problem, as flights only operated twice a week. “We had to cover lodging and food for everyone during these waiting periods,” he added, highlighting the significant financial burden.
Randeep Hooda On Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Breaking Even
Despite the initial difficulties, Randeep shared that Swatantrya Veer Savarkar eventually recovered its costs. In a previous interview, he had revealed selling personal properties in Mumbai to fund the film’s production. However, the film’s success brought financial relief. “Thankfully, we’ve managed to break even and even make a little profit,” Randeep shared on the podcast with Bharti and Haarsh.
