NEW DELHI: The Centre, under attack from the opposition which alleges that BJP is trying to undermine and alter the Constitution, will launch a dedicated portal – ‘Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Samman’ – to spread awareness among citizens on their legal rights.
The portal will be inaugurated in Prayagraj on Tuesday, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Constitution’s adoption and India becoming a Republic.
As part of its nationwide awareness drive on the Constitution, the law ministry, with the help of various high courts, bar associations and law universities, has been organising events across the country promising justice to all.
The second regional event of the year-long celebration, ‘Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman’ campaign, is being organised in Prayagraj as part of the law ministry’s ‘Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice (DISHA)’ programme, a central sector scheme.
The campaign began in Jan and has been taken to different cities, promoting and spreading awareness about the Constitution in simplified ways. The programme includes organising and popularising sub-campaigns such as Sabko Nyaya Har Ghar Nyaya, Nav Bharat Nav Sankalp, and Vidhi Jagriti Abhiyaan.
Besides encouraging citizens to actively participate on the portal, the law ministry has been encouraging advocates to register for a pro bono panel of lawyers from different bars and law universities. The ministry also recognises such lawyers for their contributions through awards to encourage others to enrol for pro bono services.
“The portal will serve as a repository of knowledge, providing citizens with easy access to information to create awareness about the Constitution and legal rights,” law ministry said.
