His latest show at the Rogers Centre in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, marked yet another milestone in his career. The concert, which was a sell-out event, witnessed a historic moment when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a surprise visit to congratulate the artist.

Diljit shared a heartwarming video of Trudeau’s arrival at the venue. In the video, Trudeau can be seen expressing his admiration for Diljit’s work, symbolizing the strength of Canada’s diversity. Diljit captioned the video, “Diversity is Canada’s strength. Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau came to check out history in the making: we sold out the Rogers Centre!” The clip also captured the duo enthusiastically cheering, “Punjabi aa gaye oye,” celebrating the spirit and pride of the Punjabi community.

Prime Minister Trudeau also took to social media, posting a picture of his meeting with Diljit. He wrote, “Stopped by the Rogers Centre to wish @diljitdosanjh good luck before his show. Canada is a great country — one where a guy from Punjab can make history and sell out stadiums. Diversity isn’t just our strength. It’s a superpower.” Diljit responded graciously, “Thank You So Much Sir.. it was an Honor to Have You.”

Diljit’s journey from Punjab to the global stage has been nothing short of extraordinary. Earlier, he made history as the first Indian artist to perform on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. In 2023, Diljit further cemented his status as a global icon by becoming the first-ever Punjabi artist to headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
On the work front, Diljit was last seen in the biographical film Amar Singh Chamkila, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The movie tells the untold story of Punjab’s original rockstar, Amar Singh Chamkila, who rose to fame in the 1980s and was tragically assassinated at the age of 27. Diljit’s portrayal of Chamkila received widespread praise for its depth and authenticity.
Currently, Diljit is basking in the success of Jatt and Juliet 3, where he reunites with co-star Neeru Bajwa.
