Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding was one of the most star-studded occasions in recent memory. While the wedding and Shubh Aashirwad ceremony each had over 2000 attendees, the Mangal Utsav, or grand wedding reception, on Sunday drew around 14000 people, according to Vogue, which talked privately with the bride Radhika Merchant.

To ensure the safety of the Ambanis and their guests, numerous measures were taken for any unexpected threat. Strict security was in place for business billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s son’s wedding, from granting guests admission based on a QR code messaged to their personal mobile phones to color-coded paper wristbands allowing access to different zones.
In an interview with Vogue, Radhika shared the reason for choosing July 12 to 14 as the dates for their lavish wedding. Calling it a rigorous procedure, Radhika said, “The dates were strategically chosen from the 12th, 13th, and 14th of July upon the advice of our family pujari, who identified synchronic moments for our celebrations based on auspicious astrological alignments in both my charts as well as Anant’s.”
While the event has become a worldwide sensation, here’s what went into ensuring its safety and preparedness.
Celebrities and politicians from around the world were invited to attend the wedding. It featured business tycoons, cricketers, film stars, and even influencers. There were several events organised. On Saturday, the Ambanis had an Aashirwad ceremony for friends and family, and on Sunday, a large number of guests, including employees and business acquaintances, were invited to a lavish wedding celebration, or Mangal Utsav.
Three distinct invites were distributed to a diverse group of attendees for the events. The top-tier visitors received a large red box containing an elaborate chest containing a little silver temple with gold idols of numerous Hindu deities, including Lord Ganesh, Radha-Krishna, and the Goddess Durga. The invitation revealed unique cards for each wedding occasion. One of them was made of silver and resembled the main gate of an ancient Hindu temple. It also featured various keepsakes, such as an embroidered cloth with the initials AR for Anant and Radhika, a blue shawl, and a silver box containing additional gifts.
