NEW YORK, July 15 (Xinhua) — U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 210.82 points, or 0.53 percent, to 40,211.72. The S&P 500 added 15.87 points, or 0.28 percent, to 5,631.22. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 74.12 points, or 0.40 percent, to 18,472.57.
Six of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with energy and financials leading the gainers by going up 1.56 percent and 1.42 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, utilities and consumer staples led the laggards by dropping 2.39 percent and 0.60 percent, respectively.
