‘Underrated’ food scene or ‘off’ energy? Social media users weigh in on Milwaukee as RNC begins – MASHAHER

As the national spotlight turned to Milwaukee on the first day of the Republican National Convention this week, visitors took to their keyboards to let their opinions on the city be known.

Some called Milwaukee’s food scene ‘underrated’

CW26 Chicago TV host Brandon Pope posted a tweet on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, saying that the Milwaukee food scene “deserves respect.” He posted a picture of a pasta flight from Dorsia on Brady Street.

But others responded to Brandon Pope’s picture of his pasta flight with apprehension.

Mike Baker, the CEO of Portman Square Group, a “global investigations and strategic communications group” based in Boise, Idaho, called Milwaukee a “great town.”

Meanwhile, Politico correspondent Adam Wren declared Milwaukee an “elite Midwestern city.”

And Shane Noem, president of Roebling Solutions, a government relations and lobbying firm in Kentucky, also posted a tweet praising Milwaukee.

‘The energy in Milwaukee is off’

Some users took the opportunity to voice their opinions against the city, as well. The X account @PoliticalPossum deemed Milwaukee as being one of the “top ten” worst places to hold the RNC — but didn’t specify why.

Other users have been wary of the increased police presence around the city. About 4,000 law enforcement officers from across the nation are expected to be in Milwaukee this week.

Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman has described a goal of being “invisible.”

So far, the convention has stayed relatively quiet, with few incidents or arrests.

The RNC will be in Milwaukee from July 15 to July 18.
