‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has completed a 20-day run at the box office. The film stands at around Rs 560 crore nett after its third Tuesday’s business. Prabhas’s film is making waves at the ticket window, and is all set for release on a digital platform soon. However, it will manage to become the fourth-biggest Indian film of all time at the domestic box office by surpassing the lifetime collection of ‘Jawan’, before it hits an OTT platform.
Rumours have been rife about the OTT premiere of the Nag Ashwin-directorial. However, as per many Telugu media reports, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ will only go online after 10 weeks of its release. The film is currently running in its fourth week, and it has got over a month more to keep performing on the big screen.

Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles, ‘Kalki’ has already emerged as the biggest Indian film of 2024. Give it six more weeks, and it will be thrashing some more staggering records left, right and centre. This includes aiming to go past ‘RRR”s overall domestic business in its lifetime run. The SS Rajamouli-directorial collected Rs 782.2 crore nett in India and if ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ continues to maintain the same run, it will surpass this figure to become the third highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
It is expected to go past Rs 600 crore by the end of its fourth weekend. A lot also depends on the kind of word-of-mouth that ‘Bad Newz’ receives this Friday. The maximum business of ‘Kalki’ has come from the Telugu market. However, the Hindi belt has also contributed extensively to its box office success. If the Vicky Kaushal-Triptii Dimri starrer, which is releasing this weekend, receives good word-of-mouth, it might just take over ‘Kalki’ in the Hindi market, thereby eating into the film’s business by a good margin.
It will be interesting to see where ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ goes from here.
