The curtains closed on the action-packed World Championship of Legends (WCL) this week, and Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, who championed the event, took to social media to express his heartfelt gratitude. India emerged victorious in the pulsating finale, defeating their arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium.

Ajay Devgn’s Instagram post overflowed with emotions as he reminisced about the incredible journey. “As the @worldchampionshipoflegends draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on this experience with immense gratitude,” he wrote. Working alongside legendary cricketers like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Kevin Pietersen, Brett Lee, and Jacques Kallis was a dream come true for the actor who has always cherished the sport.

Devgn further acknowledged the significant “leap of faith” he took by backing the league. “Starting an entire league has been a fantastic experience, to say the least,” he remarked. His appreciation extended to the dedicated staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, as well as the passionate fans whose unwavering support transformed each match into a spectacular event. “Thank you to each and every one of you for absolutely knocking it out of the park with the league,” he concluded, signing off with, “Here’s to many more innings together, on and off the field.”
The WCL 2024 witnessed a glorious reunion of retired international cricketers from India, Pakistan, South Africa, Australia, England, and the West Indies. The ten-day tournament, held from July 3 to 13, reignited the magic of the sport with these cricketing legends taking center stage once again.
Pakistan, after winning the toss, opted to bat first. Shoaib Malik emerged as their top scorer with a crucial 41 off 36 balls, while their captain, Younis Khan, unfortunately, fell to Irfan Pathan for just 7 runs. With Yuvraj Singh leading the Indian charge and Irfan Pathan showcasing his skills on the field, India chased down the target of 159 runs in 19.1 overs, losing only five wickets. This victory cemented India’s position as the WCL 2024 champions.
On the work front, Ajay Devgn is all set to reprise his iconic role as Bajirao Singham in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film, Singham Again. This action-packed flick marks the fifth installment in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe and serves as a sequel to the 2014 blockbuster Singham Returns. The star-studded cast includes Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, and Jacky Shroff. The film is set for Diwali 2024 release.
Apart from this project, Devgn has Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, De De Pyaar De 2, Son of Sardaar 2 and Raid 2.
