Cops rescue motorist after car breaks down on Pan Borneo Highway – MASHAHER

KOTA KINABALU: It is a classic case of being “in the right place at the right time” for two policemen when they rescued a motorist whose car broke down along the dark Pan Borneo Highway recently.

The motorist, who only wants to be known as Pin Jack, said he was driving along the highway when his car suddenly broke down in front of the Hakka Memorial Park at Kampung Kopimpinan in Papar, at around 7pm on Wednesday (July 18).

Jack quickly reached for his phone to call for help but, unfortunately, there was no signal.

So he turned to passing vehicles, but none stopped to help.

“I understand the reluctance to help because there have been quite a number of robbery and murder cases reported in the media, and they probably thought I was a decoy.

“I waited for about two hours, in the dark, until I saw the police car patrolling along the road at around 9pm. They stopped to check and helped me,” he said.

Thanking the two policemen, Jack considered himself lucky, adding: “I cannot imagine what could have happened to me if they did not come to my rescue.

He said both policemen, stayed with him for several hours until the tow truck arrived at the location.

“As soon as the tow truck arrived, the two police personnel left. I was very grateful to meet such kind souls,” he said.
