BAKER MEETS WITH FREMANTLE STARS?

The future whereabouts of Liam Baker has taken a very interesting turn, with reports that the gun utility has in recent weeks met with Fremantle star duo Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw.

While he has recently been believed to favour the Eagles over the Dockers, AFL.com.au’s Callum Twomey understands that Baker met with the pair

“We can say today that star Dockers pair Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw were part of a contingent of a Dockers group that met with Liam Baker recently when he was in Fremantle,” Twomey said on the Gettable podcast.

The Dockers have a prime draft hand heading into the back end of 2024, with picks 7 (linked to Collingwood), 10 (linked to Port Adelaide), 14 and 24 all theirs inside the first two rounds.

“I think he goes, but we thought that two years ago and he ended up staying,” Twomey added.

“Both clubs (Fremantle and West Coast) were well and truly in it two years ago and he ended up staying, but I think it’s a ‘go’ this time; it just depends on what club.”

While the Tigers have remained confident they’ll keep Baker, the general consensus is he will depart the east coast for the west this time around.

As much as Baker has been as asset for them, at the right price some high draft picks would certainly be of service to the Tigers during their continued rebuild.

Baker has played 124 at the Tigers since making his debut in 2018, and is a two-time premiership player at the club across 2019 and 2020.

KEANE KEEN TO STAY PUT?

Crows key defender Mark Keane has attracted the attention of now-former club Collingwood throughout 2024, with speculation the 24-year-old could make a move back to where his AFL career all began.

Out of contract with Adelaide at the end of next year, the Irishman is currently ranked eighth for intercept possessions in the league and putting together a serious season at West Lakes.

And amid speculation on his future, Keane spoke to Channel 7’s Josh Money on Wednesday about where he sits in the scheme of things – even attributing what a former teammate first told him to his recent run of form.

“I remember Darcy Moore telling me to try mark everything and just intercept everything, so I’ve kind of just kept going from that,” Keane begun by saying.

“It’s definitely flattering (being asked to come back to Collingwood) … (although) I love the club (Adelaide), love the city – it’s a great place to live.

“I’d probably want to get it (the contract) done sooner rather than later, but we’ll just wait and see now until the end of the season, and hopefully something will get done.”

Keane has played just 26 games at the top level; five at Collingwood during the COVID era and 21 at Adelaide since Round 3 last year.
