The highly anticipated sequel to the horror-comedy blockbuster Stree is finally here. After a six-year wait, Stree 2 is set to terrify and tickle audiences this Independence Day, 2024. The film’s trailer recently dropped, and it’s clear that the makers are not just upholding the legacy of the first film, but taking things to a whole new level with captivating visuals and side-splitting humour.
Stree 2 Trailer Launch: Shraddha Kapoor quips: “I really wish I had the bhootni’s superpowers”
The trailer launch event was a star-studded affair, with the entire cast and crew (except Aparshakti Khurrana) gracing the occasion. The highlight, of course, was the return of Shraddha Kapoor as the iconic Stree herself.
During the event, Kapoor was asked a question that plagues many actors: which of her characters is her favorite? She admitted, with a laugh, that choosing just one is an impossible task. For Kapoor, the joy lies in the opportunity to explore diverse roles and truly inhabit them. Each character holds a special place in her heart, and Stree is no exception.
“Reprising this role after all this time feels truly special,” Kapoor said. “It was something completely new for me back then, and stepping back into it now is an incredible experience.”
Kapoor then playfully addressed the concept of the Stree herself, a ghost with a penchant for men on specific nights. “I really wish I had the bhootni’s (ghost’s) superpowers,” she confessed.
Kapoor hinted at a “khatarnak” (dangerous) twist on the Stree’s iconic braid, calling it a “2000 watts vaali electric choti” (a 2000 watt electric braid).
The trailer for Stree 2 promises a thrilling on-screen experience. The two-minute, 54-second clip hints at a new terror gripping the town of Chanderi. While Stree ended on a cliffhanger, audiences had to wait for a good five years. However, the makers are finally back with another banger of a trailer that ties all the loose ends. It is a visual spectacle offering a glimpse into a world, blending horror and humor, in the most unique way!
We will see the return of the original cast led by Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, sure to charm the audiences with their impeccable performances. Starring Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee, it promises a return to the spooky yet hilarious world. Stree 2 is set to hit theatres on August 15, 2024.
