(Reuters) – Forward Jaden Philogene has returned to Aston Villa, the Premier League club said on Friday, a year after he moved to Hull City.
Philogene, 22, spent three years at Villa’s academy before making his senior debut at the club in 2021. He had loan spells at Stoke City and Cardiff City before making a permanent move to Hull, where he scored 12 goals in 32 appearances in the English Championship.
He also played for England U21s last year, scoring three goals in four matches.
“It feels amazing, it’s like I’m back at home,” Philogene told Villa’s official website. “When I was a little boy I wanted to play in the Champions League. I’ve always thought I want to be there one day and here I am.”
Villa, who finished fourth in the Premier League last season, will play in Europe’s top club competition this season for the first time since 1982-83. They begin their league campaign at West Ham United on Aug. 17.
