Leading Bollywood music composer, Jatin Pandit’s son, Raahul Jatin recently released a single on his YouTube channel titled ‘Shopping’, an upbeat peppy track with a quirky romantic video that explores subtle relationship dynamics of a young married couple. Raahul, an upcoming singer- composer delves into the complexities of social media while speaking about his brand-new release.
Jatin Pandit’s Son Raahul Jatin opens up about dealing with social media trolls; says, “Somebody called me a ‘Saasta Arijit’ which literally translates as cheap Arijit”
Raahul said, “Just sometime back I had sung a cover and put it up on my social media and got mixed reactions. There was praise and contrastive criticism but this one comment struck me. Somebody called me a ‘Saasta Arijit’ which literally translates as cheap Arijit. To which I responded, ‘Saasta Hi Sahi’ (Atleast a cheap ARIJIT). I wanted to convey to the troll that he has honoured me by comparing me to one of the greatest singers of our time. Most of the time I ignore and move on, you have to do what you got to do. As artists we have to take both criticism and appreciation in our stride and keep focusing on our craft. The very same day I got the idea for a very nice monsoon track which I will release soon, so all the trolling actually fuelled my creativity”.
Raahul’s latest offering shopping is a mix of Punjabi- Hindi language and is an upbeat melody that is romantic yet foot tapping at the same time. Raahul said, “I think Punjabi is a fun and energetic language and works very well with fast tracks. The language in itself is electrifying and has a rush. We are a multilingual country and languages have always excited me, though I firmly believe that music has no language. I have done a Gujarati song earlier but I speak Gujarati. Punjabi has been challenging as I don’t speak the language.”
Rahul added, “The story line is very simple, it is about forgiving mistakes and moving on when you love someone. Forgiveness is always a choice and a better one because it strengthens the relationship. Human beings make mistakes but holding onto grudges is a bigger mistake. We have showcased this in a fun and quirky manner, the message is strong yet not preachy”.
The music is composed by Raahul Jatin and the song is also sung by him while the lyrics are written by a budding writer Shayra.
