YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A local winery that has been based in York County for 20 years will close today following the latest court ruling that is forcing it to shut its doors.
abc27 News reported in early June when Moon Dancers Vineyards & Winery Inc. was forced to temporarily close their doors as a result of a court order stemming from a legal dispute brought by a neighboring property in regards to the use of the winery’s farm property on Klines Run Road.
About two weeks following this ruling, York County Court Judge Clyde Vedder issued a court order granting the winery’s request to rescind the previous court order.

The winery then reopened on Friday, June 21, however, on July 10, the court reinstated its previous ruling. As a result, the winery was given 10 days to shut down its operations.
“Words cannot express our deep disappointment and sadness,” Moon Dancer owner Jim Miller previously said. “The past six weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions. We went from celebrating our 20th anniversary on Memorial Day weekend to learning of a court order to close and then getting a reprieve that turned out to be short-lived. Now, we have just a little over a week to close our doors. We don’t know when or if we will ever reopen. We are beyond devastated.”
Due to the sudden closure, Moon Dancer Winery has extended its hours of operation today from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
All events scheduled after today’s date will be canceled. Customers who have purchased event tickets for any canceled events will receive full refunds.
Currently, there is an online petition that was started by loyal customers and supporters to stop the forced closure of Moon Dancer Winery. To date, the petition boasts more than 8,000 signatures.
