(FOX40.COM) — An undercover sting operation involving multiple units from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of 56 people, according to the agency.

Undercover deputies working as sex workers and sex buyers along Watt Avenue in North Highlands carried out the sting operation.

“These types of undercover operations are crucial in the fight against prostitution and human trafficking, as they help identify and rescue victims, dismantle criminal networks, and bring perpetrators to justice,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release.
Those arrested ranged in age from 18 to 44 and were from Sacramento County, Placer County, Sutter County and Arizona.
