NEW DELHI: A fourteen-year-old boy who was undergoing treatment for a Nipah virus infection in Kerala died on Sunday, state health minister Veena George said.
He was shifted to the government medical college at Kozhikode after testing positive on Saturday.
The young boy experienced a severe cardiac arrest at 10.50am on Sunday morning and passed away.
“He was on ventilator support.The urine output had reduced this morning. After a massive cardiac arrest, the revival efforts failed and he passed away at 11.30am,” George said.
The minister said that the funeral proceedings will adhere to international guidelines and protocols.
“Further matters on the funeral will be decided only after the district Collector holds discussion with the boy’s parents and the family,” she added.
