PUTRAJAYA: Police have detained a foreign man suspected of pickpocketing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
KLIA police chief ACP Azman Shari’at said the suspect, in his 50s, holding an expired visit pass, has been remanded for four days starting on Sunday (July 20).
Following the arrest, Azman said an investigation paper was opened under Section 336 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act to facilitate further investigation.
“At 2.04am on July 20, we received a report from a complainant stating that the incident (pickpocketing) occurred on July 19 around 9.45 pm.
“During the incident, the suspect attempted to flee when chased by the public after he allegedly stole a person’s wallet at KLIA Terminal 1. He was then apprehended by the police,” he said in a statement on Sunday (July 21). – Bernama
