The Mets made minor trade on Sunday afternoon, acquiring right-handed pitcher TJ Shook from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for left-hander Tyler Jay.
Jay, 29, was designated for assignment earlier this week when the Mets claimed Alex Young from the Giants.
Shook, a 26-year-old product of the University of South Carolina, has not pitched above the Double-A level, spending this season and last with the Biloxi Shuckers.
Across four minor league seasons, Shook has appeared in 80 games, making 57 starts, pitching to a 4.77 ERA with 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings.
