Two ejected in upstate NY boat incident; search continues for missing operator – MASHAHER


A search will resume this morning after two people were ejected into the water Sunday following a boating incident on Sodus Bay in the town of Sodus, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies reported that a single cigar boat collided, leading to both the operator and passenger being ejected into the water. The female passenger was brought to shore by other boaters to seek medical attention and was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Search ongoing for missing boater in Sodus Bay in upstate NY

The Sheriff’s Marine Patrol and Dive Team searched the area into the early morning hours but were unable to locate the male operator. The search for the missing operator will resume at 7 a.m. Monday.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

Multiple agencies respond to boating incident in Sodus Bay

Assisting on the scene were New York State Police; the U.S. Coast Guard; Sodus Point, Alton and North Rose fire departments; Eastern Wayne Emergency Medical Services; Silver Waters Community Ambulance; Wayne County EMS; and Mercy Flight.
