According to data from Upwork Research Institute, about 33% of workers expect to leave their job within the next 6 months. Some of the research behind that figure shows part of the reason is due to burnout from AI increasing productivity for workers.
Upwork managing director – Upwork Research Institute Kelly Monahan joins Wealth! to give insight into this staggering statistic and what it means for both workers and companies.
“I think for what we’re seeing is a lot of pent up burnout. As the labor market continues to be strong, we’ll continue to see people vote with their feet to go into environments where they’re able to have strong human plus machine collaborations. And I think the reality is people are looking to stay ahead of this technology curve.” says Monahan
For workers, Monahan states: “If you’re struggling today and you’ve been asked to do more with less, I encourage you upskill and learn this new tool. Generative AI, especially when used as a learning coaching mechanism, not just efficiency play can be a game changer for the workforce. And once you’ve used it and you begin to understand how it can transform the way you do work, it’s going to be hard to go back.”
