GOP nominee Donald Trump’s musings on Fox News about why he picked Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his 2024 running mate — while Vance was sat right next to him — proved an uncomfortable moment for critics of the Republican ticket on social media.
“We’ve always had a good chemistry,” Trump told prime-time personality Jesse Watters in an interview that aired Monday.
“And originally, JD was probably not for me but he didn’t know me,” the former president continued. “And then, when we got to know each other, he liked me, maybe more than anybody liked me. And he would stick up for me and he’d fight for the worker as much as I fight for the worker.”
“We just had an automatic chemistry,” Trump added.

Many of Trump’s detractors summed up the moment with one word, “cringe.”

Trump is so cringe. And Vance multiplies his cringe. A cringe amplifier if you will.
