Ohio issues first recreational marijuana licenses – MASHAHER

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — Ohio has issued its first recreational marijuana licenses.

“We feel like we’ve been preparing for this for months, even years,” Pete Nischt with Klutch Cannabis in Akron said.

Klutch is among the first in the state to be issued a recreational marijuana license.

The Division of Cannabis Control issued the very first batch of dual-use certificates of operation to 10 cultivators and processors across the state Friday. Four of them are in Northeast Ohio.

“We’re excited but we know there is about to be a deluge of licenses coming. We are excited to be among the first, it’s exciting just to have the licenses issued,” Nischt said.

At this point, the state said there have been no certificates of operation issued to any dispensaries to begin selling recreational marijuana.

According to a spokesperson from the division of cannabis control, there is no one singular day on when all recreational sales will begin.

The state said roughly 216 businesses are awaiting a dual-use license to officially enter the adult-use market.
