Rohit Shetty has worked with several of Bollywood’s top stars, including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Kajol, and others. He has directed a number of tremendously successful blockbusters that filmgoers continue to enjoy. In a recent interview, the filmmaker explained his casting method and shared his experiences working with some of Bollywood’s best actors.
Rohit Shetty reveals his casting method: “It’s about the right actor, not the biggest star”
During a chat with Pinkvilla, the filmmaker was questioned about his technique for assembling an ensemble cast for his films. He acknowledged his delight when players for whom the roles were particularly written agreed to collaborate with him. However, he stated that it is not necessary for him to cast a large celebrity.
Rohit Shetty shared, “I am always happy and satisfied about that rather than being ‘See, I got this star to my film.’ More than that, its like ‘We have written and thought of this actor to play this character and they’re performing this.’ That is the satisfaction that you get.”
Meanwhile, everyone’s eyes are on Rohit Shetty’s forthcoming flick, Singham Again. The filmmaker recently completed the shot and released a heartfelt message honouring his franchise’s heritage. He shared a video and titled, “Today we complete 13 years of Singham and look at the magic of destiny. Today we also wrapped Singham Again with Ajay sir. This is my 13th film with him as a director but the journey began back in the 90’s when I was working under him. 33 years later and we are still going strong. See you at the cinemas this Diwali.”
The video’s caption stated, “13 years of Singham, 33 years of brotherhood @ajaydevgn #SinghamAgain.” The video celebrates Rohit’s relationship with Ajay Devgn.
