EDMONTON — Love must be in the air.
We are days away from Edmonton Oilers’ captain Connor McDavid’s wedding to Lauren Kyle. We are days removed from Leon Draisaitl announcing his engagement. Stuart Skinner announced a new child on the way for his family.
Now another player in the Oilers organization has decided to take their romantic relationship to another level.

James Hamblin and his girlfriend Hanna Serena published a joint post to Instagram earlier today. The caption underneath the photos reads, “a love story 9 years in the making. Here’s to forever.”
Hamblin is the second Oilers’ player to propose to their significant other this offseason, the first being Draisaitl. There have already been several other proposals around the league during the summer.
Hamblin split his 2023-24 season between the Bakersfield Condors and the Oilers. With the Condors he played in 13 games, gathering eight points. While he was in the NHL he collected three points in 31 games while averaging 7:55 of ice time per game.
Just this offseason Hamblin re-signed with the Oilers. He and the team agreed to a two-year two-way $775,000 contract. Hamblin will be in the mix for the fourth line center position in training camp.
