“The creativity and care taken to create ‘Game of Thrones: Legends’ is obvious and it feels completely natural to jump back into Westeros for this game,” Harington said. “This is a true love letter to the fans, of whom the franchise would be nothing without, and I’m honored to pay tribute to them in this new campaign.”
“Game of Thrones: Legends,” which launched Thursday on the Apple App Store and Google Play, is developed by Take-Two Interactive’s mobile studio Zynga for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of HBO.
While the title already includes “House of the Dragon” characters like Rhaenyra Targaryen and Ser Criston Cole, the team behind the game is working on new updates for the game pegged to the currently airing Season 2 of “House of the Dragon,” and looking ahead to tie-ins for “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” HBO’s next “Game of Thrones” spinoff, which is now in production.
“Obviously, when there will be a new piece of content out, this is a treasure for game makers to think about how we can do new thins with it,” Zynga mobile games executive vice president Yaron Leyvand said. “But there’s so much content in ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘House of Dragon’ already, we can create events and systems and characters. There’s so much depth here that, regardless, we will do updates from that and things that are related to the existing show. And when a new season or show will be out, this will be another event for celebration.”
