Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a thunderous applause from the joint sitting of the US Congress when he slammed the pro-Palestine protestors staging demonstrations outside the Capitol building on Wednesday. Accusing Iran of ‘funding’ these protests, Netanyahu said “I have a message for these protesters. When the tyrants of Tehran who hang gays from cranes and murder women for not covering their hair are praising, promoting and funding you- you have officially become Iran’s useful idiots”.
This was when the House erupted in cheers and claps, giving the Israeli Prime Minister a standing ovation for his condemnation of the protests.
Notably, protesters demanding the US stop military aid to Israel hoisted Palestinian flags and burnt American ones outside Washington’s Union Station in demonstrations against a visit by Netanyahu.
